APC Appoints Governor Sani to Lead Ekiti Governorship Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress has named Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani as Chairman of its Ekiti State Governorship Election Campaign Council, positioning one of its most prominent and active governors to lead the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election in which incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji seeks a second term.

The appointment was communicated in a formal letter dated April 24, 2026, signed by APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and addressed to the Kaduna State Government House. The party described Sani’s selection as a recognition of his demonstrated track record in political leadership and his role in advancing the party’s broader objectives across the country.

The correspondence expressed confidence in the governor’s ability to coordinate campaign activities effectively and galvanize the support needed to deliver a decisive victory for the party in Ekiti State. As part of preparations for the campaign’s formal launch, Sani was invited to attend the official flag-off rally of the party’s governorship campaign, scheduled for April 27, 2026, in Ado-Ekiti.

The June 20 Ekiti governorship election will be the first governorship contest conducted under the leadership of INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan, giving the exercise additional significance as a benchmark for the commission’s management of subnational elections ahead of the 2027 general election cycle. Oyebanji, who won the seat on the APC platform in 2022 and has since consolidated the party’s dominance in the state, is expected to campaign on a record of infrastructure development and economic management during his first term.
