Delta Contractors Formally Endorse Oborevwori for Second Term Over Infrastructure Record

The DESOPADEC Indigenous Contractors Forum in Delta State has announced its formal endorsement of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027, citing what members described as a transformative record of infrastructure development and a responsiveness to contractors’ concerns that distinguished the current administration from its predecessors.

Forum Chairman Ogie Samson told a press briefing that the decision to back Oborevwori’s return to office was grounded in his administration’s concrete track record, particularly its visible commitment to infrastructure across the state. He noted that the governor had taken the unprecedented step of releasing funds to DESOPADEC to offset part of the outstanding debts owed to members of the forum, a gesture previous administrations had not extended to the body.

Samson said the governor’s consistent support for the board and management of DESOPADEC had allowed the agency to fulfil its obligations to both contractors and host communities, and expressed hope that a second term would expand contracting opportunities beyond DESOPADEC to the broader state procurement process.

Forum Secretary Prince Charles Ebigbagha described Oborevwori’s three-year record as sufficient justification for organised support ahead of the 2027 election, urging members to return to their respective units and wards and actively campaign for the governor’s re-election.

Pioneer Chairman Francis Obule formally moved a motion passing a vote of confidence on the governor and endorsing his second-term candidacy, with the motion seconded and adopted unanimously by the full membership of the forum.
