2027 Audi Q7 and SQ7 Debut With More Power, Advanced Lighting Technology

The all-new 2027 Audi Q7 and its high-performance SQ7 sibling have made their global debut, ushering in the third generation of Audi’s flagship three-row luxury SUV with bold styling, significantly more power, cutting-edge lighting technology and a redesigned premium interior.

After nearly a decade on the market, the outgoing Q7 will be phased out later this year, with the new generation expected to arrive in the United States during the fourth quarter of 2026. Pricing has yet to be announced, although Audi is positioning the SUV further upmarket as it prepares to introduce an even larger flagship, the upcoming Q9.

More Powerful Than Ever

The biggest upgrade comes under the hood. The standard 2027 Q7 now features a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque—almost 100 horsepower more than the optional V6 offered in the outgoing model.

The performance-focused SQ7 receives an equally significant boost, powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 generating 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 91 horsepower over its predecessor.

Both SUVs come standard with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Audi estimates the Q7 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, while the more powerful SQ7 is expected to complete the sprint in just 3.7 seconds.

New Look, Bigger Presence

Although the new Q7 retains a footprint similar to the outgoing model, it stands more than two inches taller, giving it a stronger and more upright appearance.

Inspired by Audi’s latest Q3 and Q5 designs, the SUV features flatter rooflines, a larger front grille and more intricate styling details. The increased height also improves cabin space for passengers.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner described the new Q7 as a continuation of the brand’s premium SUV legacy.

“For more than 20 years, the Audi Q7 has represented the perfect premium SUV. With its new generation, we carry this mission forward,” he said.

Premium Cabin With Flexible Seating

Inside, Audi offers both seven-seat and optional six-seat configurations, the latter featuring second-row captain’s chairs.

Every seat is power-adjustable, while premium materials include open-pore wood finishes in the Q7 and carbon-fibre trim in the SQ7. Soft-closing doors and power-operated entry are available as optional features.

Cargo capacity has also increased, offering up to 78.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, providing greater practicality than the outgoing model.

Advanced Digital Lighting

One of the standout features of the new Q7 is Audi’s Digital Matrix LED headlight technology, recently approved for use on American roads.

The intelligent lighting system can selectively dim portions of the high beams to avoid dazzling other drivers while maintaining maximum illumination elsewhere.

Audi has also introduced customizable lighting signatures at both the front and rear, while the taillights can display warning symbols such as a safety triangle.

Additional projector lights display turn signals directly onto the road surface beside the vehicle, improving visibility for pedestrians and cyclists. Welcome lighting projects illuminated pathways outside the doors when occupants enter or exit the SUV.

Inside, the panoramic glass roof incorporates 78 LED lights that work alongside the ambient lighting system, while illuminated headrests and a Dynamic Interaction Light strip across the dashboard enhance the futuristic cabin atmosphere.

Technology-Focused Interior

The dashboard is dominated by Audi’s curved MMI Panoramic display, combining a digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen and an optional passenger display.

Other technology highlights include:

Dual Qi2.2 wireless charging pads with built-in cooling
USB-C charging ports for all three rows delivering up to 100 watts
Available head-up display
AI-powered voice assistant
Factory-installed dashcam
Bang & Olufsen 4D premium audio system with 22 speakers, headrest speakers and seat-mounted actuators for immersive sound
Suspension and Driving Dynamics

The standard Q7 rides on a steel-spring suspension, with optional adaptive air suspension available.

The SQ7 comes standard with air suspension, while buyers can also choose a sport adaptive setup that lowers the ride height by 1.2 inches. Four-wheel steering is also offered to improve maneuverability and stability.

No Electrified Powertrain—Yet

Despite the extensive redesign, Audi has not introduced any hybrid or plug-in hybrid version of the Q7 for the U.S. market.

Both available engines rely solely on traditional internal combustion technology, although a diesel variant will be offered in Europe.

Expected Arrival

Production of the new Audi Q7 and SQ7 will take place in Slovakia, with deliveries expected to begin in late 2026. U.S. pricing will be announced closer to launch, but the new generation is expected to command a higher price than the outgoing model as Audi moves further into the premium luxury SUV segment.
