Arsenal Advance to Champions League Semi-Finals After Goalless Draw with Sporting

Arsenal FC secured a place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals following a tense 0-0 draw against Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium, sealing a 1-0 aggregate victory.

Mikel Arteta’s side progressed courtesy of a decisive late goal from Kai Havertz in the first leg in Portugal, which ultimately proved enough to separate both teams over two matches.

Arsenal started brightly at home, but Sporting created the clearer chances in the first half. Francisco Trincao and Pedro Goncalves both threatened, while a misplaced pass from David Raya handed the visitors another opportunity. Geny Catamo came closest, striking the post with a volley from a cross delivered by Maxi Araujo.

The atmosphere grew tense as Arsenal held onto their slender advantage, particularly in the wake of their recent Premier League defeat to Bournemouth.

Sporting continued to apply pressure after the break, with Araújo missing a key chance from inside the box. Arsenal nearly extended their lead late on when substitute Leandro Trossard headed against the post from a corner.

The result marks a historic milestone for Arsenal, as they reach back-to-back Champions League semi-finals for the first time. They will face Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals as they aim to secure a place in the final.
