Melania Trump has strongly denied any connection to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, describing allegations linking her to his crimes as “unfounded and baseless lies.”
In a rare public statement delivered at the White House, the former first lady said she and her legal team were taking steps to challenge what she called defamatory claims, as renewed attention surrounds the Epstein case.
“The lies linking me with Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” she said, accusing those behind the allegations of attempting to damage her reputation for political or financial gain.
Melania Trump did not specify the exact claims but insisted they originated from individuals seeking to tarnish her name. She also rejected suggestions that Epstein introduced her to her husband, Donald Trump, stating that they met independently at a New York event in 1998.
Addressing past associations, she acknowledged moving in similar social circles as Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell but denied any personal relationship, describing a previously referenced email exchange as insignificant.
The statement comes amid renewed scrutiny following the release of documents under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which has intensified public and political debate over Epstein’s network and alleged associates.
Melania Trump also called for greater focus on victims of Epstein’s crimes, urging that survivors be given a platform to share their experiences publicly. “Each woman should have the opportunity to tell her story if she wishes,” she said.
Her remarks drew mixed reactions across political lines, with some Republican figures voicing support, while Democrats reiterated calls for further congressional hearings and transparency in the ongoing investigations.
