Oracle Cuts 30,000 Jobs in Major AI-Driven Restructuring

Oracle Corporation has begun laying off more than 30,000 employees worldwide as part of a sweeping restructuring aimed at accelerating its transition to artificial intelligence (AI) and improving operational efficiency.

The job cuts, which commenced recently, have affected staff across key markets including the United States, India, Canada, and Mexico. Affected employees ranging from software engineers to account executives and programme managers, have taken to professional platform LinkedIn to disclose receiving termination notices.

According to reports, the notifications sent from “Oracle Leadership” in the early hours cited “broader organisational change” as the reason for the layoffs, a move widely seen as part of the company’s pivot toward AI-driven operations.

Sources indicate that as many as 12,000 employees in India alone may have been impacted, making the exercise one of the largest workforce reductions in Oracle’s history. With a global workforce estimated at about 162,000 as of mid-2025, the layoffs could affect roughly 18 per cent of its staff.
