A political statement attributed to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has presented Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as its presidential candidate for 2027 and outlined a proposed four-year government of national unity.
According to the statement, Lawal Daura, described as Makinde’s running mate, praised the governor’s record in public office and said the proposed administration would prioritize economic recovery, education, national security and political reconciliation.
The remarks were reportedly delivered at a meeting with leaders of the Northern Patriotic Front at the campaign’s Abuja headquarters. The group was said to have offered support for Makinde’s candidacy and the campaign message described as ‘Reset Nigeria’.
Daura urged voters to assess presidential contenders on their public records rather than ethnicity or regional affiliation. He argued that experience in business, financial management and governance should be central to the electorate’s decision.
The statement attributed to campaign communications director Richard Ihediuwa also described the proposed presidency as a one-term transitional arrangement intended to create a foundation for longer-term reforms.
A Northern Patriotic Front representative, identified as Ali Abacha, was reported to have welcomed the proposed ticket and its emphasis on security and economic renewal.
The report does not include official APM nomination documents, confirmation from Makinde or Daura, or an electoral commission record identifying the ticket. These are essential checks before the candidacies and proposed one-term agreement can be stated as established facts.
