Dangote Refinery’s Fuel Exports Overtake Domestic Deliveries in September

Exports of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery reportedly averaged 54.63 million litres daily in September 2026, exceeding the 39.98 million litres per day received by the domestic market, according to figures attributed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The reported export volume represented an increase of 37.33 per cent from 39.78 million litres daily in August, while combined domestic receipts fell 22.08 per cent from 51.31 million litres. Exports therefore exceeded local receipts by approximately 14.65 million litres a day, reversing the previous month’s position.

Petrol output reportedly rose to 47.22 million litres daily, compared with average national petrol consumption of 44.4 million litres. However, only 28.50 million litres of the refinery’s daily petrol production entered the Nigerian market; 15.47 million litres were exported and 3.25 million litres went into stock.

Diesel exports were reported at 15.91 million litres daily against local receipts of 8.14 million litres. Aviation fuel exports reached 23.25 million litres, compared with domestic receipts of about 3.34 million litres. The figures suggest that aviation fuel was a major driver of the refinery’s export-heavy September distribution.

The supplied figures also put refinery capacity utilization at 105.98 per cent, supported partly by withdrawals from crude inventories. These figures require comparison with the original September 2026 NMDPRA fact sheet before publication as confirmed regulatory data.
