2027: Mbah Inaugurates 7,000-Member Enugu APC Campaign Council

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated a campaign council comprising more than 7,000 members to coordinate the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Mbah inaugurated the council on Tuesday evening at the International Conference Centre in Enugu, pledging to lead the party’s campaign across the state and seek renewed support based on his administration’s performance.

The governor said his campaign would focus on presenting completed projects and development initiatives rather than making promises to voters.

He expressed confidence that his administration had justified the mandate given to it in 2023, pointing to what he described as significant improvements in infrastructure, economic growth and the business environment.

Mbah cited the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index, which reportedly ranked Enugu as the fastest-improving state among the 33 states assessed, with a Momentum Score of +1.15.

He also referred to a report by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, saying Enugu had improved from 36th position out of 37 subnational entities in 2023 to sixth nationally in 2025 in ease of doing business.

The governor said he was eager to take his administration’s record to residents across the state’s 68 development centres and markets.

He also announced plans to commission projects in each of the state’s 260 wards during the campaign, including Smart Green Schools and Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres.

“The people of Enugu cannot wait to see us. They are so excited. And as I go to every ward and Development Centre, I will also take time to commission both the Smart Green School and the Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centre,” he said.

Mbah urges support for Tinubu’s re-election

The governor called on APC members to campaign vigorously for President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the Federal Government’s policies and increased resources available to states had supported his administration’s achievements.

He said the party needed to explain Tinubu’s economic policies and development initiatives to voters, particularly in the South-East.

“We must also campaign hard for the president because it also took those bold and courageous policies of his to achieve what we accomplished in the last three years,” Mbah said.

He added that development ambitions could not be achieved without the financial resources needed to implement them.

Mbah, who serves as the APC’s campaign coordinator for the South-East, said Tinubu deserved support for what he described as the administration’s interventions in the region.

He cited infrastructure projects, strategic appointments and the establishment of the South East Development Commission as examples of the Federal Government’s engagement with the region.

The governor also praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying macroeconomic indicators suggested that Nigeria was beginning to recover its economic strength.

He urged party members to be proud of their affiliation and defend the party’s record before voters.
