Minister of Works David Umahi has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, arguing that continuity would help sustain road construction and the administration’s economic reform programme.
At a town hall meeting in Kano ahead of the commissioning of works on the Zaria–Kano section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway, Umahi defended the removal of petrol subsidy and other policy decisions as measures intended to support longer-term economic growth.
He also endorsed Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf for another term, praising what he described as improvements in environmental cleanliness, political cooperation and public administration.
Umahi said infrastructure delivery should be judged by durability and safety and argued that engineers could make valuable contributions to leadership because of their technical training.
Yusuf thanked the federal government for its road investments, saying improved transport links would support trade and movement across Kano and the wider North-West.
The event combined an infrastructure update with political endorsements. The supplied account did not provide independently verified project completion figures or an assessment of the wider economic effects claimed by the minister.
