ADC Campaign Presents Atiku as Unifying Candidate, Criticizes Tinubu Administration

The presidential campaign organization of the African Democratic Congress has portrayed former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as a candidate capable of bridging Nigeria’s regional and religious divisions, while accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress of failing to provide inclusive leadership.

Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the remarks in Abuja during a visit by leaders of the Grassroots Mobilization Network, headed by its National Coordinator, Sadiq Abubakar Adamu Lwafu.

The network said it was organising nationwide mobilization for Atiku ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Lwafu criticized the Tinubu administration over economic hardship and insecurity, and argued that voters should replace the APC through the ballot box.

Ologbondiyan described Atiku’s family, professional and political relationships as evidence of an outlook that crossed ethnic and religious boundaries. He said the former vice-president’s experience and proposed policies made him well placed to address national challenges.

The ADC official contrasted that portrayal with what he characterized as sectional appointments and divisive political practices under the current administration. These were partisan accusations made by the campaign and were not independently established by the supplied account.

He further argued that national unity required a government willing to consider the interests of citizens across all regions rather than organize political power around narrow constituencies.

The meeting also demonstrated the role of grassroots organizations in the emerging presidential contest. Support networks are expected to focus on voter registration, local outreach and campaign mobilization as parties compete for support.

Although the campaign expressed confidence in Atiku’s prospects, no polling or other independent evidence was supplied to substantiate a prediction of victory. The APC’s response to the criticisms was not included.

As the election approaches, claims about national inclusion, economic management and security will remain central issues for voters to evaluate against the records and proposals of competing candidates.
