Wike Orders ‘No-Work, No-Pay’ for FCT Workers Participating in NLC Strike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed chairmen of the six area councils in Abuja to enforce a strict “no-work, no-pay” policy against workers participating in the ongoing indefinite strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Wike issued the directive on Friday after a meeting with the council chairmen, describing the industrial action as politically motivated and lacking justification.

The minister maintained that workers who fail to report for duty during the strike period should not receive salaries for the affected days, in accordance with the directive.

He expressed concern over the impact of the strike on public services within the Federal Capital Territory and urged council administrations to ensure compliance with the policy.

The development marks a new phase in the ongoing dispute between labour unions and authorities in the FCT, with both sides maintaining firm positions on the issues that triggered the industrial action.
