Oyebanji Presents N490.74bn Ekiti Budget, Prioritizes Welfare and Infrastructure

The 2027 spending proposal allocates N215.06 billion to capital projects and is linked to the state’s long term development plan.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has presented a proposed N490.74 billion budget for the 2027 financial year, describing it as a plan to consolidate ongoing reforms and create new opportunities for economic growth.

The appropriation proposal, titled ‘Budget of Sustained Progress and Prosperity’, was submitted to the state House of Assembly in Ado Ekiti. It provides N275.68 billion for recurrent expenditure and N215.06 billion for capital projects.

Oyebanji said the proposal was aligned with Ekiti’s 30 year development plan covering 2021 to 2051 and designed to support continuity in public investment beyond the tenure of any administration.

He identified six broad priorities: education and healthcare, good governance and transparency, culture and tourism, youth employment, infrastructure and industrial development, and agriculture and rural communities.

According to the governor, the proposed spending would build on his administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda while expanding projects intended to improve services, stimulate investment and strengthen economic opportunities in urban and rural areas.

House of Assembly Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye welcomed the presentation, saying the estimates reflected issues raised during public consultations across the state’s three senatorial districts.

The proposal will be subject to legislative consideration before it can become an approved budget. The figures announced represent planned allocations rather than completed expenditure.
