ADC Will Not Accept Election Rigging in 2027, Says David Mark

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has declared that the party will resist any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections, insisting that it will not allow itself to be rigged out of power.

Mark made the declaration during a courtesy visit by the Governing Council of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development to the ADC national headquarters in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the delegation was led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, as part of the centre’s stakeholder engagement with political parties and leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during the visit, Ariwoola reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to promoting free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria. He urged the ADC leadership to ensure that its members and candidates comply with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines and avoid all forms of political violence.

Responding, Mark reiterated the ADC’s commitment to democratic values and electoral rules, stressing that the party would conduct its activities in a manner that strengthens public confidence in the nation’s democratic process.

“We are committed to playing politics in a manner that promotes public confidence in democracy,” he said.

The former Senate President also assured that the party would fully comply with INEC regulations and the ADC’s internal code of conduct as contained in its Orange Book.

“We hold ourselves to the highest standards of good conduct as a political party. We will play by the rules. But we will not accept rigging or allow ourselves to be rigged out,” Mark stated.

The Savannah Centre delegation included members of its Governing Council, popularly known as the “Council of the Wise,” among them Professors Abdullahi Shehu and Azeez Musa Dankano, Executive Director Ambassador Sani Bala, Mr. Tunji Lardner, and Ambassador Godswill Ighali.
