Military Salary Increase Takes Effect as Troops Receive September Pay

ABUJA — Nigerian military personnel have begun receiving increased salaries following implementation of the latest adjustment approved for members of the Armed Forces.

Director of Defence Information Major General Samaila Uba confirmed that the increase was reflected in September salary payments.

The development comes as the Federal Government continues investment in military accommodation and welfare.

A presidential media delegation has inspected the second phase of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks project in Abuja.

The development comprises 30 blocks of family quarters, six blocks for senior officers, an Army club, a MAMI market, bridges, drainage systems and supporting infrastructure.

More than 1,000 soldiers and their families are expected to be accommodated when the project is completed, while the wider residential community could serve over 6,000 people.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications Sunday Dare said the project demonstrated the administration’s effort to convert public resources into infrastructure while improving conditions for military personnel.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media Otega Ogra said construction was also creating opportunities for engineers, artisans, suppliers and labourers.

Similar military infrastructure projects are underway in Ekiti, Ebonyi and Osun states.

For personnel serving in increasingly demanding security environments, improved salaries and accommodation will remain important measures of the government’s commitment to military welfare.
