The National Rescue Movement has inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, with its presidential candidate, Dr Esther Nkem Okereke, promising a campaign centered on prosperity, security, employment and accountability.
The council was inaugurated in Abuja as the party begins building its national campaign structure ahead of the election.
Dr Chinedu Obi was named Chairman of the council, while Okereke will serve as Co Chairman.
Dr Mustapha Umar Kumshe is Deputy Chairman, while the party’s vice presidential candidate, Nasir Suleman Muhammed, will serve as Co Deputy Chairman.
Hassan Aminu Ibrahim was appointed Secretary, with Obidike Okolo as Deputy Secretary.
Sani Garba will serve as Director General, while Shedrach Oka was named Deputy Director General.
The council also includes the party’s zonal and state chairmen alongside other members of the campaign organization.
Speaking during the inauguration, Okereke said the NRM wanted to change the character of political campaigning in Nigeria by moving away from what she described as politics centered primarily on sharing power.
She said the party would instead campaign on expanding prosperity and would prioritize structured, evidence-based and peaceful political engagement.
According to Okereke, the campaign organization has been designed to operate across the six geopolitical zones, all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, extending further to local government areas, wards and polling units.
She also pledged that the party’s campaign would remain peaceful and operate within the law.
The inauguration formally sets in motion the NRM’s campaign machinery as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
