The Federal Government has set an initial target of creating one million export-linked jobs by 2030 through the Hire From Nigeria campaign, an initiative designed to connect Nigerian talent with global employers and service markets.
Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the target at the campaign’s global launch in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Shettima said Nigeria’s youthful, English-speaking and increasingly digital workforce positioned the country to compete more aggressively in the global outsourcing market.
The campaign is private-sector led and government supported and aims to make Nigerian professionals, digital workers, creatives and service providers easier for international businesses to identify and hire.
Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Jumoke Oduwole said the initiative aligned with government priorities around youth, job creation, services and digital trade.
Education Minister Tunji Alausa said skills-development reforms were increasingly being designed around employment and market demand.
Tech4Dev President Joel Ogunsola said existing outsourcing companies already employed about 20,000 Nigerians in areas such as customer operations, technology, data and specialized services.
The campaign is also being supported by the Bank of Industry, Mastercard Foundation, NIMC, NITDA and other public and private institutions.
Officials said the programme would focus on demand-driven skills, verified credentials, digital infrastructure and mechanisms that make Nigerian talent easier for global firms to trust and engage.
