Gov Mbah Unveils Compendium of Over 10,000 Achievements, Says Enugu On Course To $30bn Economy

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has unveiled a compendium documenting more than 10,000 milestone achievements recorded by his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

The compendium, titled “A Thousand and One Reasons Why Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Should be Re-elected as Governor of Enugu State,” was presented to the public on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.

The publication captures projects and reforms across critical sectors of the state economy. Headline achievements include over 1,521 kilometres of constructed and reconstructed roads, over 7,000 classrooms, 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, the establishment of Enugu Air, the New Enugu Smart City, the ultramodern Enugu Command and Control Centre, massive investment in water infrastructure, and the revamp of moribund state assets.

Mbah, who was represented at the unveiling by Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, said the compendium aligns with his administration’s Citizens Charter, also known as Executive Order 001, which he signed on inauguration day to emphasize accountability, traceability and transparency.

According to the governor, the document reflects his philosophy of disruptive innovation and focus on large-scale infrastructure aimed at opening up rural communities and creating new corridors for commerce, agriculture and investment.

He noted that the compendium does not capture everything done till date due to a cut-off point during preparation.

“It does not in any particular material represent the actual successful modest achievements of this government as at 9th of September 2026,” Mbah clarified.

The governor thanked Ndi Enugu for their support in 2023, appealed for understanding over tough policy decisions, and reiterated his target of growing Enugu into a $30 billion economy and a preferred destination for investment, business, tourism and living.

In his welcome address, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the administration had pursued extensive urban renewal including the New Enugu Smart City, while reforming the state’s fiscal architecture through revenue automation, the Treasury Single Account, enterprise resource planning and restructuring of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service.

He said the government also sustained investments in youth empowerment, women development, technology, skills acquisition, social protection and community development, adding: “Behind every project is a community; behind every policy is a citizen; and behind every statistic is a human being whose life the government seeks to improve.”

The event drew political leaders, traditional and religious leaders, captains of industry and other stakeholders, who commended the scale and spread of the interventions.

Honorary Doctorate from University of East London

In a related development, Governor Mbah was conferred with a Doctor of Law Degree, honoris causa, by his alma mater, the University of East London (UEL) at its Docklands Campus graduation ceremony.

Presenting his citation, Vice-Provost and Executive Dean, Royal Docks School of Business and Law, Prof. Fatima Ana-Diab, recalled Mbah’s academic excellence as a UEL Law student who graduated in 2000, served as President of the Students’ Law Society, represented students on the Students’ Representative Council, and won the university’s Mooting Competition.

She noted his subsequent academic pursuits including the Nigerian Law School, a Master’s in Maritime and Commercial Law from Lagos State University, an MBA from IESE Business School, Spain, and postgraduate studies at Oxford, as well as his distinguished career as founder of Pinnacle Oil and Gas and as former Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance in Enugu.

In his acceptance speech, Mbah said education “enlarges our capacity to transform the world,” explaining why his administration invests 33 percent of the state budget in education through schools, tech hubs and skills programmes.
