Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate Kelechi Anosike has launched his 2027 campaign in Abia State with a 10-point programme focused on food security, cooperative finance, industrialization, healthcare and social welfare.
Anosike unveiled the agenda during a radio appearance in Umuahia that was carried simultaneously by several stations.
The programme is built around the slogan “People First, Abia Always.”
On agriculture, Anosike proposed an initiative called Operation Feed Abia, which he said would target food security, mechanized farming, stronger extension services and upgraded farm settlements.
He also promised to encourage local governments to support farmers with tractors and other productive assets.
On economic policy, the PDP candidate said he would promote cooperative-based development and establish a Traders Microfinance Bank headquartered in Aba.
The proposed institution would, according to his campaign, provide interest-free revolving loans of between N500,000 and N2 million to traders and artisans organized through registered cooperatives.
Anosike also pledged entrepreneurship grants and a target of establishing three industries each year if elected.
For healthcare, he proposed an insurance arrangement under which government would cover 60 per cent of medical costs while citizens paid the remaining 40 per cent.
The proposals are campaign commitments and would depend on legislative, financial and administrative implementation if the PDP candidate wins the February 2027 governorship election.
