Anambra APC Protests Exclusion from Remi Tinubu Visit as Security Agencies Map Routes

The All Progressives Congress in Anambra State has protested what it describes as the exclusion of its leadership and women’s structures from preparations for First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to the state.

The party nevertheless welcomed the First Lady and praised her women-empowerment initiatives.

In a statement signed by state secretary Obi Okpala, the APC said it learned details of the visit through an announcement by Anambra First Lady Nonye Soludo rather than through formal engagement with the party.

The APC argued that a visit by the First Lady of Nigeria should provide room for participation by relevant stakeholders beyond partisan lines.

It accused the governing All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra of promoting a public narrative that “progressives are working together” while allegedly marginalizing the APC locally.

Those claims are the APC’s political allegations and were not independently established in the supplied material.

The party also said it intended to campaign strongly for President Bola Tinubu in Anambra in 2027 and rejected suggestions that cooperation with APGA had displaced the need for an independent APC structure.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies have begun route profiling and security mapping ahead of the visit.

Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga said the exercise was part of a wider assessment of venues, access routes, critical infrastructure, traffic management and emergency-response arrangements.

The command said the security plan was being implemented through inter-agency coordination to protect lives and property before, during and after the visit.
