JAMB Releases 2026 Underage UTME Results, Sets 320 Minimum Score for Exceptional Admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results of all underage candidates for viewing, while stressing that the release does not automatically qualify them for admission.

In a statement, JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocols, Fabian Benjamin, said an underage candidate is any applicant who will be below 16 years of age as of September 30, 2026.

The Board explained that the results were released to enable candidates, parents and guardians to assess their performance. However, it clarified that the scores cannot be used for admission except by candidates who satisfy the requirements for exceptional admission.

According to JAMB, candidates seeking admission under the exceptional category must demonstrate outstanding academic ability and maturity and successfully pass multiple stages of assessment and verification.

One of the key requirements is a minimum UTME score of 320, alongside a minimum of 80 per cent in relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination subjects, where applicable.

JAMB stressed that meeting the minimum score alone does not guarantee admission, as eligible underage candidates must also satisfy the other assessment and verification requirements prescribed by the Board.
