Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has fulfilled his promise to triple the cash prizes attached to awards presented to outstanding civil servants during the 2026 Civil Service Week celebration.
The cheques were presented to the beneficiaries on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Office of the Head of Service in Asaba.
The Head of Service, Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, presented the cheques to civil servants who distinguished themselves through excellence, punctuality, commitment and outstanding performance across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The gesture followed Governor Oborevwori’s pledge during the 2026Delta State Civil Service Week celebration to triple the cash prizes attached to the various awards.
Presenting the cheques, Oseji expressed appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise, describing the gesture as another demonstration of his commitment to the welfare, motivation and recognition of hardworking civil servants in the state.
She commended Oborevwori for his magnanimity and consistent encouragement of workers to give their best in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The beneficiaries expressed excitement and appreciation upon receiving their cheques, saying the gesture would further encourage hard work, dedication and healthy competition among civil servants across the state.
Among the beneficiaries was Umufo Faith of the Ministry of Youth Development, who received N150,000 as the Most Valuable Staff in the Junior Category.
Reuben Udolu of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development and C. N. Atisele of the Delta State Hospital Management Board each received N150,000 for emerging as Most Punctual Staff in the Senior Category.
Oniovokukor Rukvwe Raphael of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Renewal also received N150,000 as Most Valuable Staff in the Senior Category.
Emmanuel Okotete of the Ministry of Oil and Gas received N200,000 for emerging as the highest goal scorer in the football competition, while Abuga Dennis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources received the highest prize of N750,000 as Best Civil Servant Farmer.
The presentation marks another milestone in the state government’s efforts to recognise and reward excellence within the public service, while encouraging workers to improve productivity and professionalism.
The occasion was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Charity Ehimen-Babigha; Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Ejiro Erhiakeme; Director, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Bright Agbogu; and other officials and staff of the Office of the Head of Service.
The beneficiaries and other staff members expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori, saying the fulfilment of the promise demonstrated that his administration values the contributions, dedication and welfare of workers in Delta State.
