Ohanaeze Praises Tinubu’s Emergency Intervention on Benin Agbor Asaba Road

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has commended President Bola Tinubu for directing urgent federal intervention on the deteriorated Benin Agbor Asaba Expressway.

The organization said the corridor was a critical national route linking the South South, South East and other parts of the country.

Deputy President General Okechukwu Isiguzoro said motorists, transport operators and communities had endured severe delays, congestion, vehicle damage and difficult travel conditions because of the road’s condition.

Ohanaeze urged commuters to remain patient while the Federal Government implemented remedial measures.

The group also praised Works Minister David Umahi for personally inspecting the corridor and engaging contractors and other stakeholders.

It said the inspection demonstrated that the government recognized the seriousness of the crisis.

Ohanaeze described the highway as an important economic route for passengers, agricultural produce, industrial goods and commercial activity.

The organization said its support for the intervention was based on the strategic importance of restoring reliable movement along the corridor.

It also praised Umahi’s insistence that contractors comply with agreed standards.

The commendation came as the Works Ministry increased pressure on the concessionaire handling reconstruction of the highway.

The ministry has said urgent measures will be combined with longer term corrective work.

Ohanaeze said road users expected the intervention to produce lasting improvements rather than another temporary repair cycle.
