Veteran Journalist Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, has resigned her membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need for reflection on the next phase of her political journey.
Sarafa-Yusuf announced her decision in a statement, saying she had formally notified the APC leadership in Ogun State and submitted her resignation letter.
She said the decision followed an extended period of travelling, spending time with his family and engaging in “much thought and quiet reflection.”
The veteran Journalist described her time in the APC as an important part of her political journey, expressing appreciation for the relationships, experiences and lessons gained during her membership of the party.
“However, there comes a time when one must have the courage to reassess one’s path,” she said.
Sarafa-Yusuf said she now wanted to carefully consider how best to continue contributing to Ogun State and Nigeria, stressing that her commitment to public service remained unchanged.
She identified service, integrity, inclusion, competence and a genuine desire to make a difference as the values that would continue to guide his public engagement.
“It is, therefore, important to reiterate that I am not stepping away from public service. I am taking the next step in the journey,” she said.
She explained that her resignation was not an indication of withdrawal from politics, but an opportunity to create space for reflection and determine the direction of her next political engagement.
Sarafa-Yusuf said she would return to her professional and business commitments after her holiday while taking time to decide on the form her future political activities would take.
She wished the APC and its members well as she formally ended her association with the party.
