NSCDC Honors Mining Marshals Commander Onoja for Service

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has presented a meritorious service award to the Commander of its Mining Marshals, Attah John Onoja.

Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi presented the award during the National Armourers’ Retreat and Symposium in Abuja.

The NSCDC said the recognition reflected Onoja’s dedication, discipline and professionalism.

It also linked the honor to the work of the Mining Marshals in tackling illegal mining, mineral theft and related economic crimes.

The specialized unit has been deployed to protect mining sites and enforce laws in a sector increasingly associated with revenue losses, environmental damage and security risks.

Audi said the award should serve not only as recognition of previous work but also as encouragement for stronger operational performance.

Onoja thanked the Commandant General and dedicated the honor to officers serving in the Mining Marshals nationwide.

He said the unit’s achievements were based on teamwork, resilience and collective commitment.

The commander pledged to intensify operations against illegal mining and support the Federal Government’s effort to protect mineral resources.

The NSCDC said continued enforcement would be necessary to reduce exploitation of mining areas by criminal networks and strengthen confidence in the solid minerals sector.
