Presidential Amnesty Programme Administrator Dennis Otuaro has urged the Ijaw Youth Council to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign and avoid political divisions that could weaken the Niger Delta’s influence.
Otuaro made the appeal when the newly inaugurated IYC leadership visited his office in Abuja.
The delegation was led by council President Doubra Okotete.
Otuaro argued that supporting Tinubu for a second term was in what he described as the strategic interest of the Ijaw people and the wider Niger Delta.
He urged the youth organization to remain united and mobilize politically ahead of the 2027 election.
The comments represent Otuaro’s political position and do not constitute an official endorsement by the IYC.
The Amnesty Programme administrator also praised the council and other Niger Delta stakeholders for supporting peace building and reforms under the programme.
Okotete, in response, commended the PAP leadership for its education and empowerment activities.
He said the council was prepared to strengthen cooperation with the programme and explore additional areas of partnership.
The meeting illustrates how regional youth organizations are increasingly being courted by political actors as campaigns intensify.
Otuaro’s appeal also highlights the importance national parties attach to Niger Delta mobilization ahead of the presidential vote.
