Another batch of Nigerians repatriated from South Africa has arrived in Lagos, with 83 distressed Nigerians returning to the country aboard a South African Airways commercial flight.
The returnees comprised 58 adults and 25 children who arrived in Lagos on South African Airways flight SA060.
Upon arrival, the returnees commenced biometric clearance under the supervision of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
The latest exercise marks the first repatriation of Nigerians from South Africa by commercial flight, following seven previous batches that were transported to Nigeria using chartered aircraft.
Authorities said the returnees would complete the necessary documentation and other clearance procedures before proceeding to reunite with their families.
The repatriation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian authorities to facilitate the safe return of distressed Nigerians abroad and support their reintegration into their communities.
