National Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged the Federal Government to intensify security operations following deadly attacks on communities in Benue State.
Obi made the call after visiting Otukpo Nobi and Efeyi Ugboju, where residents were recently attacked.
He said more than 10 people were reported killed or missing in Otukpo Nobi, while several others were injured.
In Efeyi Ugboju, Obi said more than 13 people were reportedly killed and others wounded.
He added that he was informed during the visit that 14 people had been kidnapped earlier along Ankpechi Road.
Obi joined residents at the site of a mass burial and also visited injured victims receiving treatment in hospital.
He said the Federal Government needed to close security gaps and reduce the number of ungoverned spaces being exploited by violent groups.
The former Anambra State governor said protecting lives and property remained one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government.
He expressed sympathy with the families of those killed and wished the injured a full recovery.
Obi said the scale of attacks in affected communities showed the need for stronger and more sustained security measures rather than temporary responses after violence occurred.
