Defence Minister Christopher Musa led senior Nigerian defence officials at a strategic engagement with United States officials at the Pentagon.
The Nigerian delegation included senior government officials and military commanders.
The discussions formed part of the second meeting of the United States Nigeria Joint Working Group.
National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu led the broader Nigerian delegation participating in the bilateral engagement.
The talks reviewed progress following Nigeria’s designation as a Country of Particular Concern and examined shared security concerns.
Officials discussed intelligence cooperation, counterterrorism operations and opportunities to strengthen military relations.
Both governments said they remained committed to sustained dialogue and coordinated action against regional and international security threats.
The Washington meeting forms part of a broader effort to improve security cooperation while addressing concerns involving religious violence, terrorism and accountability.
