The United World Congress of Diplomats has urged world leaders involved in armed conflicts to pursue negotiation and diplomacy rather than prolonged warfare.
The organisation said lasting peace required dialogue built on justice, fairness and mutual respect.
It also appealed to armed groups, terrorists, kidnappers, bandits and other violent actors in Nigeria and elsewhere to lay down their weapons.
The group warned that war deepened hatred, distrust and instability while damaging trade, investment and economic development.
It cited the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on peace, justice and strong institutions as a framework governments should follow.
The organisation expressed concern about continuing conflicts involving Russia and Ukraine, the United States and Iran, Israel and Palestine and tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
It called for renewed negotiations and said even deeply hostile parties ultimately had to engage if they wanted durable peace.
UN WCD also highlighted the heavy human cost of modern warfare, particularly for civilians, women, children and elderly people.
The organisation said it was willing to provide mediation support where requested.
Its Nigerian delegation is also expected to engage lawmakers in the United States as part of an international peace advocacy campaign.
The group said diplomacy should remain the preferred instrument for resolving disputes before disagreements escalate into wider regional or global crises.
