Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu has charged soldiers graduating from Exercise RESTORE HOPE X to uphold discipline, professionalism and operational excellence as the Nigerian Army expands its formations and units.
Speaking at the graduation of the Advanced Infantry Training Programme at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna State, Shaibu said the exercise was designed to sharpen combat skills and prepare troops for modern security challenges.
He said many of the graduating soldiers would form part of the new divisions and formations being created under the ongoing restructuring of the Army.
The Army Chief urged personnel to remain physically fit, mentally alert and technologically capable while respecting the rule of law, human rights and rules of engagement.
Chief of Training Valentine Okoro described the programme as an important part of the Army’s training structure, saying it exposes soldiers to realistic operational scenarios and leadership development.
In a separate operation in Sokoto State, troops of 8 Division Garrison arrested four suspected Lakurawa members while they were allegedly attempting to sell six cattle believed to have been rustled.
Security sources identified the suspects as Usman Bammo, Ali Usman, Abubakar Garba and Muhammadu Dage.
Two mobile phones and N165,000 were also recovered.
Authorities said the arrests followed intelligence provided by members of the public and urged communities to continue sharing useful information with security agencies.
