Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has signed three executive orders aimed at addressing substance abuse and mental health, preventing electoral violence and regulating mining activities.

The first order creates a framework for prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation, requiring cooperation among ministries, health institutions, security agencies, schools, traditional rulers and religious organisations.

The second prohibits political thuggery, hate speech, voter intimidation and weapons at rallies, campaigns and processions. Security agencies were directed to identify flashpoints, prevent the movement of armed groups and investigate sponsors of violence.

The third order strengthens the registration and monitoring of mining operators, workers, equipment and sites. It also targets mineral smuggling, child labour, environmental damage and the use of mining locations for criminal activity.

The Secretary to the State Government will coordinate implementation, with legal and security oversight provided by the Attorney General and the state security adviser.
