The Nigeria Citizens’ Watch for Good Governance has rejected calls for the resignation of NNPC Limited Group Chief Executive Bashir Ojulari over allegations concerning security spending.

The group’s chairman, Collins Eshiofeh, said expenditure classified as energy security and pipeline protection related to safeguarding oil infrastructure, reducing theft and protecting national assets rather than a single undisclosed contract.

He argued that the company’s audited financial statements and operational reports provided evidence of increased transparency and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

The organisation also dismissed claims that pipeline protection expenditure amounted to a concealed fuel subsidy and urged President Bola Tinubu to allow ongoing petroleum sector reforms and oversight processes to continue.
