The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to publish the personal particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general election, in line with its revised election timetable.

Under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, the commission is required to publish candidates’ academic credentials and other submitted documents within 21 days of receiving them, giving Nigerians the opportunity to scrutinize the records of contestants including Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. With the publication of candidate details, political parties are set to formally begin campaigning for the 2027 presidential election on August 19.
