The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to public private partnerships aimed at strengthening troop welfare, with Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu receiving a delegation from Guaranty Trust Bank at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Shaibu described the bank as a dependable partner whose financial services complement the army’s transformation efforts by improving administrative efficiency and personnel welfare, noting that the army’s ongoing expansion requires a technology driven banking system capable of serving personnel across the country. He urged the bank to expand its social responsibility initiatives to support wounded personnel and the families of fallen soldiers, and requested deployment of automated teller machines to newly established and remote military barracks to improve access to banking services.

GTBank Executive Director Ahmed Liman praised the army’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and reaffirmed the bank’s readiness to deepen collaboration, highlighting specialized services including trade desks for defence procurement financing and secure digital platforms for salary and contractor payments.
