Bauchi State Secures 91.6 Million Dollar Infrastructure Financing From ECOWAS Bank

The Bauchi State government has secured a 91.6 million dollar infrastructure financing agreement with the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development after 18 months of negotiations, backed by a federal government guarantee.

Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed the agreement after returning from the bank’s headquarters in Lomé, Togo, saying the facility, already captured in the 2026 budget, is expected to be accessible from August and will fund several road projects, including routes in Kirfi Local Government Area, alongside stalled urban renewal projects within Bauchi’s Government Reserved Area. He expressed confidence that all ongoing road projects would be completed before his administration’s tenure ends, saying the investment would reduce travel time and strengthen Bauchi’s position as a growing economic hub.

Separately, the Bauchi State government signed two memoranda of understanding with Saudi Arabia’s Golden Contractors Group covering annual Hajj services delivery and a broader partnership framework spanning agriculture, mining, infrastructure and tourism. Secretary to the State Government Aminu Hammayo said the agreements followed two days of discussions between the governor and the Saudi company, which also visited several locations across the state to assess investment potential, expressing optimism the partnership would strengthen ties between Bauchi and Saudi Arabia.
