The interim national chairman of the Tanimu Turaki led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tanimu Turaki, has said his faction will fully participate in the 2027 general election despite the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Turaki said the current internal disputes are not new to the party, recalling that it previously survived a similar leadership crisis that led to the formation of a caretaker committee under Ahmed Makarfi, and argued that the present challenges are less severe by comparison. He alleged that many of the crises affecting opposition parties in Nigeria can be traced to the ruling party, but insisted that no individual or group could destroy the PDP.
