Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara is not planning to leave the All Progressives Congress over the party’s Muslim Muslim presidential ticket, his office says, dismissing circulating media reports as false.
In a statement on Dogara’s behalf, aide Dominic Alancha called the reports false, baseless and deliberately intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension, insisting Dogara remains a committed, loyal APC member who has neither resigned nor expressed any intention to do so. Alancha attributed the claims to mischief makers seeking to sow division within the party, saying Dogara remains focused on working with party leaders and members to strengthen the APC ahead of 2027 and is committed to supporting President Tinubu’s re election and the party’s overall victory. The statement said the former Speaker’s priority remains promoting good governance, national unity and Nigeria’s continued progress under APC leadership, urging the public and media to disregard the reports and rely only on verified information from credible, official sources.
