Former Katsina State Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema, has defended the economic and security reforms being implemented by President Bola Tinubu, describing them as difficult but necessary steps toward addressing Nigeria’s longstanding challenges.

Shema made the remarks on Tuesday during the unveiling of the Tinubu/Dikko Women and Youth Centre in Katsina, where he expressed optimism that the policies of the Tinubu administration, alongside those of Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, would deliver lasting benefits despite the current hardships.

According to the former governor, the reforms introduced by both leaders require patience and public support, as they are designed to reposition the country’s economy, strengthen security and improve the welfare of Nigerians.

“Some of the critical decisions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken for Nigeria, as well as those implemented by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, may be difficult for Nigerians at the moment,” Shema said.

“But these decisions are necessary to correct the problems that bedevil Nigeria in terms of the economy, security and the social well-being of our people. In the long run, the investments we are making in governance, by the grace of Allah, will yield positive results. We only need to be patient.”

Shema urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Tinubu-led administration, expressing confidence that the ongoing reforms would help restore peace, strengthen the economy and improve national development.

Speaking on the newly inaugurated Tinubu/Dikko Women and Youth Centre, the former governor said the initiative was established to mobilise grassroots support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Radda in the next general elections.

He explained that the centre has a comprehensive organisational structure extending from the state level to zonal, local government, ward and polling unit levels. According to him, the main executive committee is headed by the member representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Magaji.

In his remarks, Governor Radda commended Shema for establishing the centre, describing it as a strategic initiative to strengthen grassroots mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor also pledged his support for the centre, expressing confidence that it would contribute significantly to the party’s success in future elections.
