The Nigerian Air Force says a series of precision air strikes devastated a terrorist enclave at Yaganari in the Gezuwa general area of Borno State on Friday, killing several fighters as part of Operation Hadin Kai’s ongoing air campaign against insurgents.
Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the Air Component acted on credible intelligence about renewed terrorist activity and a build up of fighters in the area, conducting intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions that confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs before engaging the targets in a series of precision strikes that destroyed terrorist infrastructure and neutralised several fighters. The successful operation, Ejodame said, underscores the growing pressure now being placed on terrorist elements, whose freedom of movement and ability to regroup continue to be severely degraded by sustained air offensives.
Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Aneke commended the personnel involved for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Air Force’s resolve to sustain relentless offensive operations against every threat to national security, saying the Nigerian Air Force will continue delivering decisive air power alongside surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they seek refuge, adding that the force remains committed to denying terrorists any safe haven or chance to rebuild their capabilities. He stressed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain firmly on course in consolidating the significant gains already made in the ongoing counter terrorism campaign.
