Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, rescued additional abductees from a terrorist hideout and repelled a coordinated Islamic State West Africa Province attack on a military location in Borno State, part of sustained search and rescue and intelligence led operations aimed at denying terrorist groups freedom of movement and disrupting their logistics.
According to a statement from Acting Military Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni, troops of 115 Task Force Battalion, conducting ongoing search and rescue operations in Askira Uba local government area, freed two additional abductees from a terrorist hideout and recovered N1.2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activity alongside food items and other logistics believed to have supported terrorist operations, with the rescued victims now evacuated to a secure location for medical attention and psychosocial support.
In a separate engagement, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base Logomani in Ngala local government area, under Sector One, repelled an ISWAP attack after terrorists briefly breached a section of the base’s defensive perimeter during an intense firefight. Troops regrouped, launched a counter offensive and pushed the attackers back, inflicting significant casualties, though the statement said one soldier paid the supreme price during the engagement and two gun trucks along with some combat enablers sustained damage. The situation at the base remains firmly under Operation Hadin Kai’s control, with reinforcements deployed and exploitation operations ongoing to strengthen the location’s defensive posture.
Elsewhere, troops of 232 Battalion, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a notorious criminal in Gombi local government area of Adamawa State, recovering one AK 47 rifle, two magazines and 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, with investigations continuing to identify other members of the network. Troops of 149 Battalion arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mobbar local government area of Borno State, while 24 Task Force Brigade, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out a clearance operation around known terrorist enclaves in Wulgo. Six suspected ISWAP terrorists, along with their families, surrendered to troops of 192 Battalion Main under Sector One, and troops separately arrested a suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP logistics supplier at Molai checkpoint while he allegedly transported large quantities of medical supplies without required clearance. In Sector Two, troops of 233 Tank Battalion, working alongside local hunters, intercepted and arrested a suspected logistics supplier in Ngirya village, Tarmuwa local government area of Yobe State, recovering five motorcycle tyres from the suspect, who remains in military custody along with the others pending further investigation.
