May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has filed a suit before the Lagos State High Court seeking an order compelling the removal of several social media accounts allegedly used to cyberbully, harass and defame her.
The entrepreneur, influencer and brand ambassador is also asking the court to restrain Yinka Omolola Theisen, Emeka Ugwuonye and unidentified operators of various social media accounts from making further publications she describes as defamatory on Facebook, Instagram, X and other online platforms.
The suit, marked LD/10737GCM/2026, was instituted through her legal representatives, Jessica Egbafor and Esther Fijo of Greylaw Partners.
In the application, May is seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from publishing content she alleges is defamatory, threatening and harassing. She also wants the court to order the deletion of the disputed social media accounts and posts, while directing the affected social media platforms to disclose information on the account holders to assist investigations.
In a 126-paragraph affidavit supporting the suit, the claimant alleged that she has been subjected to a sustained campaign of online harassment over several years.
She claimed that the defendants, alongside operators of several blogs and social media pages, circulated false allegations, manipulated photographs, AI-generated images, insulting caricatures, death wishes and other offensive materials allegedly intended to ridicule her and damage her reputation.
According to the affidavit, despite serving legal notices on some of the defendants in 2025 demanding the removal of the disputed publications, the alleged online attacks intensified, with new social media accounts reportedly created to continue the campaign.
May also accused one of the defendants, whom she identified as her former lawyer, of breaching solicitor-client confidentiality by allegedly publishing information obtained during the course of legal representation.
She further told the court that the alleged defamatory publications have adversely affected her business interests, endorsement deals and commercial relationships. She added that the circulation of her private contact details online exposed members of her family to harassment, causing emotional distress, anxiety and concerns for their safety.
The claimant is therefore asking the court to restrain the defendants from making any further publications about her and to compel the removal of the disputed online content.
Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen has directed that all court processes be served on the defendants through their last known residential addresses, email addresses, as well as their known social media and other electronic communication platforms.
