Buhari to Be Honoured with Tribute Book on Death Anniversary

President Bola Tinubu will present a book of tributes to the late President Muhammadu Buhari at a commemoration marking one year since his death, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha announced at a press briefing in Abuja.

Buhari died in a London clinic on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness. The anniversary event, set for July 13, 2026, at noon at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Asokoro, Abuja, will bring together his family, friends, associates and public officials for interfaith prayers reflecting the unity and national cohesion Mustapha said Buhari championed throughout his life. A select group of people who worked closely with him will also share personal reflections on his legacy. The book itself, titled “Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari,” compiles messages from world leaders, diplomats and political figures who remembered him as humble, resilient and a source of inspiration following his death. Mustapha, who chairs the planning committee for the commemoration, stressed that the book is free to the public and has nothing to do with fundraising. Religious leaders representing various faiths will lead prayers at the ceremony, which organisers hope will offer comfort to Buhari’s family and admirers while honouring his record of service to the country
