The African Democratic Congress has uploaded the names of its presidential ticket, Atiku Abubakar and running mate Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s nomination portal, National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi announced on X, calling it another step toward the 2027 general election and part of the party’s effort to offer what he described as a credible alternative built on competence, unity and national renewal.
The ADC is one of nine political parties that have collected access codes from INEC to upload candidate details ahead of the election, according to INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity Malam Haruna, who listed the others as Accord, Action Alliance, the All Progressives Congress, the Labour Party, the National Democratic Congress, the National Democratic Party, the Peoples Redemption Party and the Social Democratic Party. Haruna said parties must approach the commission directly to collect their codes, rather than have officials deliver them to party secretariats, and that anyone collecting on a party’s behalf needs a formal authorization letter from its leadership. INEC has issued detailed nomination guidelines and is urging all parties to follow them closely.
