Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Katsina

Troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued six victims who were abducted by suspected bandits in Katsina State.

The victims were rescued on June 29, 2026, during a routine foot patrol by troops stationed at Unguwan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area.

According to the Army, the soldiers found the victims wandering through a forest after they reportedly escaped from their captors.

Those rescued were identified as Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 16; Safiya Isiaku, 15; Ramatu Suleiman, 30; Muhammad Shehu, 4; and Ibrahim Suleiman, 2.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were kidnapped by armed bandits during an attack on Unguwan Lado community in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026.

Following the rescue, the troops administered first aid, provided food and other immediate relief materials before reuniting the victims with their families.

Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to intensifying operations against criminal elements operating within the brigade’s area of responsibility.

He assured residents that the military would continue to conduct sustained operations aimed at protecting lives and property while denying criminal groups the freedom to operate in Katsina State and its surrounding areas.
