BUA Cement has donated farm inputs worth N108 million to 211 farmers in resettled host communities across Sokoto State, targeting rural farmers displaced by the company’s expansion ahead of the peak planting season.
The handover at BUA’s premises in Sokoto drew government officials, traditional rulers and beneficiaries whose farmlands and homes were affected by the development. For displaced households, the donation offered a practical route to reclaim productivity and stabilize income after losing access to ancestral farms.
Presenting the items, BUA Group Director of Health, Community Safety and Environment Ali Gumel said the company remained committed to social responsibility that met the immediate needs of vulnerable populations, describing the inputs not as charity but as an investment in the resilience of the people.
He said the package included improved seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals and small-scale tools selected by company agronomists to match local soil and rainfall, and pledged continued collaboration with state agencies to keep resettled communities within development plans.
Receiving the items, Sokoto Agricultural Development Projects Program Manager Abubakar Dan Maliki called the timing critical, saying it would ease the cost burden on resettled farmers and help them regain productivity quickly, with distribution handled through extension agents at community level.
