The Independent National Electoral Commission has moved the release of the access code that political parties need to upload their nominated candidates for the 2027 elections to Monday, June 29.
The commission had planned to issue the code on Friday, June 26, but sources from INEC and the parties said the release was shifted to ensure a smooth uploading process. The necessary nomination forms had already been distributed to the parties.
According to an INEC source, what remained outstanding was for parties to upload the various completed forms once the access code was released, since the forms had been provided but the platform for uploading them had not yet been opened.
The Peoples Democratic Party presented certificates of return to its nominated candidates on Wednesday and issued them the relevant INEC forms. Led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the party ratified the outcomes of its presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly primaries.
Each candidate was also given the nomination forms with a directive to return them completed within 72 hours so the party could begin uploading to the INEC portal, which opens for presidential and National Assembly filings.
