Atiku Camp Dismisses Reports of Friction Over Amaechi Vice-Presidential Selection

The campaign team of African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has moved to quell speculation about the status of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s selection as running mate, saying the announcement had been delayed solely because Atiku was on a short business trip abroad and would proceed with the formal unveiling within days of his return.

Media aide Abdulrasheed Shehu, responding on social media to posts suggesting that all was not well within the ADC and that Amaechi had not yet accepted the offer, said the ticket was settled and that reports to the contrary were false. He said the formal unveiling would take place shortly after Atiku returned from his travels.

The clarification followed a period of initial uncertainty after the ADC announced its vice-presidential selection without an immediate public appearance from Amaechi, generating conflicting reports about whether the arrangement had been fully concluded.
