Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded a series of operational successes against terrorist groups in Nigeria’s North-East, including the destruction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the recovery of logistics materials, and the arrest of suspected insurgent suppliers.
The military disclosed that the operations were conducted between June 16 and June 19, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to degrade the capabilities of terrorist groups operating in the region.
Troops Destroy Five IEDs on Biu-Buratai Road
On June 16, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, working alongside a Quick Reaction Force, responded to intelligence from local residents about suspected IEDs planted along the Biu–Buratai Road.
According to military authorities, the troops carried out a fighting patrol to the area, where they discovered and safely detonated five IED cylinders allegedly emplaced by terrorists.
The operation was completed without casualties, and the troops returned safely to base after clearing the route.
Terrorists Repelled in Kirawa Axis
In a separate operation on June 17, troops of the 153 Task Force Battalion reportedly engaged a large group of terrorists along the Miyanti–Ngoshe axis while returning from a picketing assignment in Kirawa.
Military sources said the troops encountered an unconfirmed number of insurgents riding on about 60 motorcycles. The terrorists allegedly opened fire first, prompting the troops to respond with sustained firepower.
The exchange forced the insurgents to retreat toward Miyanti, according to the military.
Although casualty figures among the fleeing terrorists could not be immediately verified, troops recovered a cache of items believed to be intended for insurgent operations, including 817 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three motorcycles, two solar panels, 102 sachets of salt, a motorcycle tyre, two motorcycle tubes, and several motorcycle spare parts.
Suspected Boko Haram Logistics Suppliers Arrested
On June 19, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison recorded another breakthrough after acting on intelligence regarding terrorist logistics activities.
During a routine stop-and-search operation at a military checkpoint, soldiers intercepted a vehicle allegedly transporting supplies to terrorist elements.
The military identified the suspects as Mohammed Bukar, also known as “Dege,” aged 35, and his apprentice, Iliyasu Abdullahi, aged 26.
The pair were arrested while travelling in a cyan Volkswagen vehicle with registration number FGF-357-AG. According to the military, the vehicle was conveying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and relief materials allegedly destined for members of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
Military Reaffirms Commitment
The military said the operations underscore the continued determination of Operation HADIN KAI to deny terrorist groups freedom of movement, disrupt their supply chains, and enhance security across the North-East.
It also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence, noting that community cooperation remains vital to ongoing counter-terrorism operations and efforts to restore lasting peace in the region.
