The Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt. Rev. Professor Samuel Ike, has said the 3rd Session of the 19th Synod of the Diocese of Enugu, scheduled from June 24 to June 28 at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Ogbete, would address major national concerns alongside spiritual themes, including governance quality, electricity supply, insecurity, the economy, the delayed Eastern Rail Project, and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Bishop Ike, speaking to journalists ahead of the event, said the Synod’s theme of revival and a prepared heart to study, do, and teach the word of God came at a time when the proliferation of churches across Nigeria had clearly failed to translate into better governance or reduced misrule, and that genuine spiritual revival had the potential to transform communities and the conduct of those in authority. He said the church would speak the truth about what was happening in the nation and expected those with ears to hear to listen.
He said renowned evangelist Gbile Akanni would serve as guest preacher from Wednesday to Friday, while former Power Minister Professor Chinedu Nebo would anchor the Thanksgiving Service on June 28.
